Richard J. Sanfratello has more than 15 years of experience advising enterprise clients in matters pertaining to mergers and acquisitions (M&A), dissenting shareholder litigation, business valuations for gift and estate tax planning, and shareholder disputes. With expertise gleaned from an extensive background at multinational “Big Four” accounting firms, a national financial advisory consulting practice, a Fortune 100 corporation, and several executive roles at closely-held businesses, Mr. Sanfratello has demonstrated an exceptional track record of providing business valuations and M&A consulting services for various types of entities for a wide variety of purposes.
Mr. Sanfratello served as the principal of Capital Works LLC, a business valuation and mergers and acquisition (M&A) advisory firm servicing various types of entities in the Chicago metropolitan market. Mr. Sanfratello spearheaded business valuation and M&A advisory services for several transactions. In addition to driving the buyout of a 50% ownership interest in the capital stock of a closely-held business, Mr. Sanfratello also directed the valuation of various intangible assets acquired by a private equity group in its acquisition of a closely-held business in the Midwest.
Prior to launching Capital Works, Mr. Sanfratello was a financial advisory manager at Deloitte in Chicago, where he oversaw multiple business valuation and financial advisory projects for a variety of institutions across a broad group of industry sectors. Additionally, Mr. Sanfratello successfully maintained and expanded client relationships with multiple public entities at Deloitte. As a Manager of Business Valuation Services with Marshall and Stevens Incorporated in Chicago, Mr. Sanfratello oversaw a team of associates throughout multiple business valuation and corporate finance projects for financial reporting, estate planning and M&A advisory purposes.
Prior to joining the Gottesman Company’s team of mergers and acquisitions (M&A) business brokers, Mr. Sanfratello started a ‘scratch’ multi-line property and casualty Allstate Insurance Agency and successfully provided personal financial representative services to individual insureds, business owners, and entrepreneurs on a local level. Mr. Sanfratello began his career as a Senior Associate at Arthur Anderson, a Manager at Phillips Hitchner Group, and as the Manager of Business Planning and Development at AT&T Mobility and would later utilize the skills that he curated there to serve as the Director of Business Development at Advanced Wiring Solutions.
Mr. Sanfratello possesses a Master of Business Administration with concentrations in Entrepreneurship and Corporate Finance from the University of Illinois at Chicago and a Bachelor of Science in Finance from DePaul University. Furthermore, he holds active Illinois Property, Casualty, Life, and Health Insurance and Series 6 and Series 63 Securities licenses.
